Creating a sense of home is an important part of the human experience. Interior design gives us a way to identify with the places we live. It is a dignifying act. The things we choose to live with help us express who we are, our culture, and our understanding of the natural world.
Together with local manufacturers and artists, we create interior design objects close to where their materials originate. Local production strengthens culture, reduces ethical compromises, and results in objects with a clear identity.
Everything we make is designed to return gracefully to the earth at the end of its life. We avoid unnecessary synthetics wherever possible in order to preserve compositional beauty and remain respectful of the natural materials we hold in such high regard.
Lärjeå is named after the river that runs north of Gothenburg. That river serves as this company’s reminder that product design is always secondary to the beauty already built into the world, and that the best examples of good design exist naturally all around us. We strive to create objects that reflect that humility while contributing to a more courageous design culture in West Sweden.
