Lärjeå is a studio dedicated to design at human scale. We make furniture and interior objects close to where their materials come from, collaborating with local manufacturers and makers across Sweden. Working this way isn’t nostalgia, it’s a deliberate choice. Local production strengthens culture, reduces ethical compromises, and creates objects with a clear sense of home.

We believe that interior design is not just fashion but a dignifying act. The things we choose to live with help us express who we are, where we fit culturally and reflect our understanding of the natural world. I’ve seen first hand how interior design can create and bolster a sense of home for people who’ve experienced homelessness.

Lärjeå is named after the river that runs through Angered, a Gothenburg suburb. Lärjeån is our reminder that product design is always secondary to the beauty already built into the world, that the best examples of good design exist natually all around us. We  try to make objects that reflect that humility and, hopefully, contribute to a more thoughtful design culture in Gothenburg.
